If you find yourself cruising uptown, we’ve collected a list of our favorite places only a short scooter ride away. Get out and about and enjoy the day—we promise you won’t regret it.
ABSOLUTE BAGELS
New Yorkers love a good bagel. Some say it’s the water, others say it’s the dough, but one thing is clear—no one does bagels like New York City. For one of the best places around, check out Absolute Bagels on 108th and Broadway. Whether you’re into scallion cream cheese and lox or a breakfast-style everything bagel, you can find it here. It’s the perfect way to start your day on the go.
CENTRAL PARK
After you’ve picked up that bagel to go, cruise up to Central Park and eat surrounded by nature. New York City’s sprawling 843-acre park offers a breath of fresh air with its endless greenery and walking paths. Weave past cherry blossoms and under towering elm and beech trees. Sit on a bench and listen to music in Shakespeare Garden while monarch butterflies and hummingbirds float past. Or maybe you’re in the mood for a jog around the reservoir and up past the Conservatory Garden on the north end of the park. Check out this map to learn about different sections of the park and the flowers and trees you’ll find there.
THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART
Once you’ve explored Central Park to your heart’s content, ride over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street, and explore the halls of one of the most magnificent museums in the world. With over two million works of art, it would take days to properly see it all.
Some of our favorites include: Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat, Monet’s Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lillies, Degas’ The Dance Class, and Courbet’s Woman with a Parrot. The Temple of Dendur from 10 BC is another exhibit you won’t want to miss. The Egyptian temple was gifted to the United States by Egypt in 1965 and features figures carved into stone depicting various Egyptian deities as well as the king of Egypt at the time, Caesar Augustus of Rome.
LITTLE LUZZO’S PIZZA NYC
After a day of sightseeing, reward yourself with a slice of ‘za. The pizza is fire, served classic New York style. They also have free arcade games like Pac Man and Galaga. Try the classic Sicilian style, or if you’re feeling adventurous, the Goodfellas’ lasagna-topped pizza will send your taste buds a-tingling.
