Kaabo Skywalker 10s
The 10s is one of the newest electric scooters from the Kaabo range of Skywalker electric scooters.
It was in 2013, the Kaabo brand started rolling out scooters in China - the heart of the electric scooter industry. Now they're scootering in more than 30 countries, worldwide, including the US, UK and Europe.
It has to be said this electric scooter may not be the most powerful beast to roam the urban jungle. But you're sure to get stoked on its speed, build quality, and comfortable ride when roaming longer distances.
So, the Kaabo Skywalker 10s is definitely up there to be one of the best electric scooters for those with a big urban commute.
Performance
Speed and Acceleration
The Kaabo Skywalker 10s is loaded with 1200W 48V/13 Ah of single brushless, rear motor power. Making this scooter an impressive mover, for hitting top speeds of:
- 51.5 km/h (32 mph) in around 20 secs - definitely a high performance matching some of the best electric scooters out there.
So, just how fast off the curb is the Kaabo Skywalker 10?
If you weigh around 76 kgs (163 lbs), then you could easily be revving up:

Battery life is always a big deal if you want range from your scooter. Over longer distances, the urban commuter is definitely getting more 'bang for buck' mileage out of the Skywalker 10s.
For a budget scooter, the Kaabo is packing a high-performance Lithium-ion battery pack of either 48V / 21Ah or 60V / 26Ah.
On a single charge alone, the 936 watt/hour battery life is good to go for 40 - 53 kms (20 - 33 miles), according to riding conditions and riders weight.
Replacing all that ride power means charging time can take between 6 to 9 hours, or 4 hours on a fast charge.
Tires and Suspension
The Skywalker certainly rocks a pumped-up tire, big time. Here we have dual 25.4 cm (10 in) x 6.6cm(2.5 in) pneumatic CST-branded* 'inner tube' tires.
*CST (Cheng Shin Tire) is the world's largest bicycle and scooter tire manufacturer, covering over 150 countries.
You would expect to find super large, chunky and resilient, wide wheels on an electric scooter putting in the extra mileage. Air-filled tires have a great surface grip in both dry and wet conditions.
Whether scootering on sidewalk or some rough terrain, the tyres on these wide wheels give the Kaabo Skywalker 10s safe and stable road adhesion. And a more comfortable ride you need for longer range commutes.
Braking
Just like other scooters in the speed department, the Skywalker 10s has gotten some serious braking to match. Here we have dual mechanical disc brakes with Zoom brand, electric moped calipers.
Looking closer reveals:

However, the Skywalker 10s offers a powerful and super-efficient braking combo for returning precise and smooth stops - 2.8m (9.1 ft) from 15mph (24 km/h).
Adjusting the brakes can shorten the braking distance even further.
Lights
Most electric scooters have a single, front LED headlight - mounted low on the stem - and a rear, red LED, at least. The best electric scooters often sport cool, LED side-lights running along the deck for extra visibility.
You won't be surprised to hear that a scooter called Skywalker 10s not only includes front and rear LED lights but also side-lights - rocking a light-saber vibe.
The force of illumination may be with you. But as with most electric scooters, and their low mounted headlights - you may need to strike back with a brighter headlight higher up the stem.
Handlebar Controls
The Skywalker 10s gives the urban commuter all the straightforward cockpit and handlebar controls they need.

Build quality and load capacity
This scooter, with its thick stem, curved handlebars and light-saber deck illumination is one of a small range of neat design, Kaboo scooters.
Frame
True to its name, the Skywalker 10s is constructed using 6061-T6 "aviation-grade" aluminum. Giving a build-quality similar to mild steel, which is applied where 'high strength to low weight" ratios are required. Plus, adding high corrosion resistance and finish.
It makes for a lightweight, durable and "no-wobble" sturdy ride - even at higher speeds.
Deck
The overall, sleek design every much extends to the all black, high-gloss finish of the Skywalker 10s deck.
Despite a maximum rider weight of 120 kg (264 lbs), this could be seen as a small deck - measuring only 44.5 cms (17.5 in) of usable length. Owing to an intrusive rear suspension design, which may limit standing space.
Its minimalist design highlights the side-deck's light-saber "effect", but which can be separately switched on and off.
Portability

For the short, urban sprint
Apollo say over 8 in 10 daily trips "are shorter than 10 kilometers." Whether heading to the office, shopping mall or local precinct.
They also state their mission is to "improve short-distance travel". Among their well-known range of Apollo scooters, the City is definitely a high-end performer on the urban stage. Could the new sleek-design 2022 be the best electric scooter out there for the short, urban sprint?

Performance
Speed and Acceleration
Apollo City 2022, which supercedes the previous City model, comes with a powerful single 48V 500W motor.
Itproduces a decent, comparable top speed of 43 km/h (27 mph). Beating out the previous City speed of 40 km/h (25 mph). Note, this Apollo may not be the best electric scooter for you if you love to open up the throttle, everywhich way.
Let's not forget this electric scooter is designed for withstanding the daily, urban short hauls. Delivering riders an all-round, value package rather than hyperbolic, speedster payloads.
For serving up a more smooth acceleration, the City also prefers to leave the starting blocks at a less hectic pace, from 0-24 km/h (15 mph) in o.4 secs.
Hill Climbs
So how does the City cope when faced with some uphill scootering?
With this size of single motor, City does a standard, electric scooter job. Easily handling 10 per inclines at just under 14 secs at around 15.8 km/h (9.8 mph).
It does seem to find some steeper gradients a struggle. However, the City coped just fine with the average inclines and hill climbs you would expect on a typical, urban commute.

Apollo City 2022 carries a 500 watt hour, 48V 13.5Ah Lithium-ion battery pack. It consumes around 1.2KW per 100km (62 miles) to produce a maximum range of 48 km (3o miles), depending on a riders weight, speed and surface conditions.
- Riding modes
Travel speed can eat up quite a bit of juice so choice of riding mode is critical.
Mode 1: 14.5 km/h (9 mph) max. speed.
Mode 2: 29 km/h (18 mph) max. speed.
Mode 3: 43.5 km/h (27 mph) max. speed.
The City 2022 version comes with 3a charger. This reduces charging time by a huge 50 per cent to only 4.5 hours compared to the 8 hours needed for the previous model.
Tires and Shock Absorbers/Suspension
Most comfortable scooters have a quality riding performance largely served up by its tires and shock absorbers.
Apollo City 2022 sports 25.6 cm (10 in) x 9cm (3.5 in) front and rear, air-filled, tubeless tires. And definitely a different experience from solid tires.
Pneumatic "air-filled" tires are all about riding, pumped up on a cushion of air. Rubber tread flexing and spreading deeper into the road surface for greater grip and shock absorption.
Triple Spring System
The City 2022 scooter also rides on a 'Triple Spring System' suspension of newly-positioned springs with swingarms.
One side of each is secured to the mainframe while the other side, attached to the wheels. The extra free movement pivots the swingarms vertically for dampening down uneven surfaces.
Braking
The City Apollo, along with many other premium electric scooters, features a 'triple' independent braking system. Designed for safety backup at every manouvre.
Here we have:
- Front wheel - fitted with a mechanical disc brake.
- Rear Wheel - fitted with a mechanical drum brake and a regenerative brake*.
*Regenerative braking - the force applied when de-accelerating is converted to usable energy, which is stored in the battery. Touch responsive hand-levers automatically activate the stored energy, braking system. The regenerative strength can also be set via LCD settings on the handlebar/cockpit display.
Lights
Design tweaks to the Apollo City 2022 are definitely illuminating!
Even the best electric scooter can have its front headlight positioned too low on the stem. Not the new City 2022 electric scooter.
Its LED headlight is flush-fitted high up on the stem - just below the handlebars. Throwing out a powerful beam ahead for those after-dark rides.
Flashing rear turn signals
A dual amber turn-signal, which flashes when the brakes are activated, is also perched up high on the rear fender, atop a large vertical red LED tail-light.
Massive kudos must go to Apollo for also wrapping a pair of large chevron-shaped amber turn signals to the rear of the scooter side-deck. Which also beep for 10 seconds when activated.
Handlebar Controls
Sheer, sleek, ergonomic and robust. Describe the Apollo City 2022 handlebars. Could it be the best scooter version to date for elegant control? There's nothing quite like great-looking handlebars to inspire confidence and trust in totally handling your ride.
Flush-mounted LED display
They're "smart" too. A cool LED display is seamlessly flush-mounted in the middle. You have instant readout and control over every aspect of scooter performance, from speed and riding mode to battery charge and rear turn signals.
Brake lights are controlled by hand levers, both left and right hand side. Plus, thumb throttle also to the right, and the electronic regenerative brake paddle to the left. All smoothly enveloped in a neat, tactile high grip rubber.

The 2022 version of City Apollo is no cosmetic makeover of the previous model - as often happens with most scooters. This redesign has gotten itself a whole new scooter.

Tires
Inokim have fitted their Quick 4 Super scooter with 5.4 cm (10 in) x 6 cm (2.5 in) "inner tube" tires, mounted on split rims.*
*Split rims - are held together by bolts or a lock-ring for quick, easy separation and tire change.
Despite of the risk of a flat, many riders prefer air-filled (pneumatic) tires for giving the most comfortable ride.
Added cushioning effect
This is because of an added cushioning effect. The simple, bold tyre-grip "footprint" is spread across more of the road surface for added traction, absorbing those bumps, cracks and creases.
The extra flexibility also adds support for those zippy side-to-side swerves, and safely taking corners.

Brakes

Firm, precise control

An added low-maintenance bonus is both drums are totally sealed, preventing damage from water, stone chips or curb knocks.

Inokim have installed 3 bright LED lights to the Quick 4 Super -
- Front - 2 x low-slung, button deck-lights.

Automatic light sensor
A light sensor on the handlebar LED display will automatically switch on the lighting after dark, or can be preset according to surrounding levels of brightness.
As with some other electric scooters, it may be a good idea to install an extra headlight - mounted high up on the stem - for improving visibility on night time rides.
Handlebar control
Firstly - as with their previous scooters, the subtly curved handlebars are made from the same cast aluminum as the stem.

Perfectly shaped grips
The handlebar grips are perfectly shaped for a reassuring, non-slip "fit and grip" to the palm of your hand. A precisely-shaped area of rubber is also embedded into the throttle, and unlike other scooters, the Quick 4’s throttle is naturally-positioned.
A cool, finishing touch of red-colour contrast is added to the aluminum releases for folding the handlebars, themselves.

Deck
The Quick 4 Super has a small deck, it has to be said.
Measuring 39.4 cm (15.5 in) long by 21.6 cm (8.5 in) wide with 11 cm (4.3 in) of ground clearance. Some larger riders will find they have limited space to stand comfortably between the stem base and carry handle.
The deck surface does have strips of super powerful grip tape running its entire length. To help with firming up standing posture and overall ride quality.
