On the other hand, Unagi created the perfect scooter--the Model One Voyager. The scooter does not need any physical upgrades because why mess with perfection? However, Unagi finds ways to improve the value of membership to its subscribers, with perks.

Performance
The Apollo City Pro is a dual 500 W motor scooter that competes against the dual 250 W motor Model One Voyager. It is a powerful electric scooter rated to carry a max rider weight of 265 lbs, and the 2024 model comes with upgraded bearings that increase the scooter’s load-bearing efficiency. The Model One Voyager alternatively supports a 220 lbs max rider weight.
Speed and Acceleration
The Apollo City Pro is the faster scooter of the two, clocking a top speed of 31 mph against the manufacturer-stated 32 mph–so fairly accurate. The scooter’s powerful motors are quick, with the City Pro reaching 15 mph in just 3.6 seconds. You can, additionally, limit max speed using sport mode (32 mph), normal mode (9 mph), and eco mode 9 mph).
Meanwhile, the Unagi Model One Voyager's top speed is capped per the e-scooter regulations set out by most states in the US. It reaches an appropriate bike-lane speed of 20 mph, but always check what local ordinances dictate in your area. The acceleration is also quick, reaching 15 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
Range and Battery
The Apollo City Pro is a long-range commuter with a large 48 V, 960 Wh battery. The scooter can cover a range between 23 - 43 miles at full speed, depending on your riding style, track conditions, and weight. You have an accurate range remaining counter, so you never have to play guesswork, and a quick 4.5 hours charge time in case you need to juice up.
The battery is fitted with 21700 cells that deliver sustained power and optimize use efficiency, ensuring longer battery life. Thanks to Apollo’s custom BMS, you can also be sure your battery is safeguarded against all electrical faults.
The Model One Voyager has a 36 V system and a 360 Wh battery. The battery delivers a max range of 12-25 miles, depending on the earlier stated factors. Unagi also leverages efficient battery cells to manage the weight, facilitate long rides, and guarantee long battery life. Like the Apollo, the Voyager also comes with a custom BMS.
Hill Climbing
Both electric scooters excel at hill climbing courtesy of their dual motors. On a 200 ft, 10% hill, the Apollo City Pro reaches the top in just 11 seconds, while the Model One Voyager slightly trails behind by 3 seconds.
Braking
Like other Apollo scooters, the Apollo City Pro features a dedicated regenerative braking system that most riders will default to. The regen throttle angle is upgraded for 2024 and delivers a more comfortable experience on longer rides. The Apollo electric scooter is additionally fitted with front and rear drum brakes. From a speed of 15 mph, the scooter comes to a halt in 12.4 ft.
The Model One Voyager alternatively relies on a dual electronic braking system. You get a stopping distance of about 17 ft from a speed of 15 mph, which pairs well with the scooter's average max speed.
Build Quality
Apollo’s in-house design strategy has brought us the best in build quality. Apollo is constantly upgrading its models by seeking community feedback, ensuring that its scooters are more efficient every year and true value for money. Meanwhile, Unagi needs no hype session on this front as its quality is tried, tested, and proven.
Materials and Durability
The Apollo City Pro scooter's frame is crafted from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, which gives it superior strength. Apollo runs top-of-the-mill quality control tests, and they are so confident in its durability that they now offer a special frame warranty that covers the scooter for 10,000 km (6100 miles).
The Model One Voyager is the peak of design ingenuity, and one of the early adopters of carbon fiber, setting the pace for scooters like the NIU KQi Air and Air X. The carbon fiber stem, magnesium alloy handlebars, and single-piece machined aluminum deck make for a strong and durable scooter frame without compromising weight.
Aesthetics
The Unagi Model One Voyager electric scooter is the perfect commuting companion. The frame is smooth without any visible joints, the wires are neatly tucked away, and overall, it embodies a minimalistic design. You can get it in cobalt blue, cool mist, matte black, or latte.
The Apollo City Pro, on the other hand, is a beneficiary of Apollo’s modern chic blueprint that we’ve seen in most of the newly released models. You can get it in graphite gray, with elegant Apollo branding on the stem and the A logo on the deck. It is feature-rich, but the features are well-placed and add to the new-age scooter aesthetic.
Ride Quality
Apollo scooters excel at ride quality, and the Apollo City Pro is no different. Its excellent ride comfort features make it a must-have for city riding.
Tires
The Apollo City Pro has 10-inch tubeless, self-healing tires that automatically plug when punctured, giving the rider peace of mind. Additionally, air tires have better ride comfort than solid tires.
Alternatively, the Unagi Model One Voyager has 7.5-inch solid tires that are flat-free and maintenance-free. The tires on the Voyager have a honeycomb design, meaning they have some degree of shock absorption, and their small nature adds to the scooter’s portability.
Suspension
The Apollo City Pro electric scooter has dual front and rear spring suspension. The front suspension features one spring, while the rear suspension has two springs. The shocks offer a smooth ride thanks to their decent travel and balanced compression.
The Unagi Voyager, on the other hand, does not have a suspension system.
Deck Space
The deck on the Apollo City Pro measures 19 inches x 7.8 inches. It takes a smooth, gradual slope towards the end, a feature that’s great for hard braking and cornering. The rake angle on the Apollo City scooter ensures that the cockpit doesn’t encroach on the comparatively shorter deck.
Meanwhile, the deck has a grab handle that you can use when lifting and is covered in a high-quality silicone cover with great traction. The Unagi has a marginally smaller deck, measuring 19.2 inches by 5.04 inches and covered in grip tape.
Ride Ergonomics
The Apollo City Pro's handlebar height is 41.5 inches, which is at the sweet spot for taller riders. Riding the scooter is easy with the ergonomic thumb and regen throttle that Apollo recently upgraded following survey research with existing riders. The 2024 updates also include a reinforced direction stopper that safeguards the internal components and handlebar from damage in the event of a crash.
Portability
The Unagi Model One Voyager remains the best portable and lightweight electric scooter, not just among dual motor scooters but in general. It weighs just 29.6 lbs and folds down to a small 37.8 inches x 16.5 inches x 15 inches package.
The Apollo City Pro, on the other hand, is not very portable. Its net weight is 68.8 lbs, and its folded dimensions are 49.3 inches x 26.7 inches x 24.8 inches. The grab handle makes it easy to lift, but for regular commuting, it’s not a scooter you want to carry up several flights of stairs daily.
Water-Resistance
Apollo electric scooters continue to top the charts in dust and water resistance ratings. Several models, including the Apollo Air, City, Go, and Pro models, carry an IP66 rating. This means the scooters have a high water tolerance, whether from heavy rain, riding through puddles, or hosing down the scooter when cleaning.
The Unagi has a more conservative IPX4 rating, allowing the scooter to withstand light rain. However, both scooters have excellent reinforced fenders that keep road spray from reaching the rider's feet.
App and Controls
The Apollo City Pro has a clean, integrated display showing vital stats. The handlebars house four buttons: the mode and left turn signal buttons on the regen throttle band and the on/off and right turn signal buttons on the throttle band.
The City Pro connects to the Apollo app, allowing users to track riding data, customize settings like regen and acceleration, calculate remaining range, check battery health, and run scooter health diagnostics. Apollo leaves plenty of space on the bars for a phone mount to maximize on-app benefits.
The Unagi also benefits from a single-button-operated integrated display and an advanced companion app. The Unagi app features a range remaining calculator that factors in the rider’s weight and riding style. It additionally allows riders to tweak top speed settings, switch between single and dual motor modes, remotely lock or unlock the scooter, and manage the rider’s subscription.
Lights
The Apollo City Pro electric scooter has a high-mounted headlight, high handlebar turn signal lights, rear deck lights on either side (with turn signal, rear light, and brake light functions), and a fender-mounted tail light that’s also a brake light.
The Unagi makes do with its integrated, high-mounted bright headlight, a tail light that’s also a brake light, and it has several reflectors for enhanced visibility.
Verdict
The Apollo City Pro and Unagi Model One Voyager are excellent commuter scooters. However, they cater to two different kinds of commuters, each giving unique value to its riders.
For starters, the Apollo City Pro 2024 is a performance electric scooter. It has a great top speed and acceleration, good range, amazing hill climbing, and solid braking. It caters better to taller and heavier riders and has good ride quality courtesy of the air tires and full suspension. The City Pro is feature-rich, with a full lighting package, excellent rake angle, ultra-high IP66 rating, app compatibility, and a superior battery.
On the other hand, the Model One Voyager is the electric scooter for you if portability is a concern. Most commuters have to carry their scooters over some distance and store them indoors rather than leaving them in scooter parking lots. The Unagi is better suited for this kind of commuter.
Addedly, the Unagi membership plan comes with many perks suited for a typical adult who's constantly on the go, like theft insurance and maintenance handled by Unagi. Not to mention the cost savings you get from paying just $79 a month or highly discounted pricing for riders that bundle up their packages. Best of all, if you discover that scooters aren’t working for you, there’s no huge financial liability, and you can cancel your membership penalty-free at any time.
